The Right Partners

Data Center

By partnering with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure Cloud for over 95 percent of our computing infrastructure, we have reduced our carbon footprint. AWS reports that its data centers are 3.6 times more energy efficient than the median of U.S. enterprise data centers, reducing carbon emissions by nearly 80 percent. Similarly, a 2018 study found that the Microsoft Azure cloud platform can be up to 93 percent more energy efficient and up to 98 percent more carbon efficient than on-premise solutions.

Both AWS and Microsoft Azure aim to be powered with 100 percent renewable energy by 2025. For more information, see Amazon’s 2019 Carbon Reduction Opportunity Report and Microsoft’s 2021 Environmental Sustainability Report.

Our Commitment

As an international software and cloud computing provider, SPS has an environmental footprint largely tied to our energy usage in offices and data centers as well as our employees’ business travel and commuting. To better understand and mitigate these impacts, SPS is conducting an inaugural environmental inventory in 2023, assessing our companywide energy consumption, water usage, waste generation and associated greenhouse gas emissions. Our findings will inform our environmental strategy, goal-setting and employee awareness efforts moving forward.
